2008 Server Core Step-By-Step

I came across this nifty guide today. Configuring a 2008 Server Core installation can be a pain the first few times around. This definitely would have saved my hair from some pulling. (There’s a sample unattend.xml file at the end too.)

1. What do you think about the new Core product? I understand it will run Hyper-V as well, I wonder if VMWare server will run on it as well?

   It’s interesting really, right now if you want ESX, you can buy the new Dell appliances, but with Hyper-V you don’t have to worry about licensing another piece of software really. I’d like to see some benchmarks comparing the two, and if Microsoft has management tools that stack up against VI3.
